You are looking at a Lockheed airplane factory in Burbank California, during WWII. It was an attempt to hide the plant from a Japanese attack. They camouflaged the roof and open areas to look like rural farmland. Brilliant.
FYI - Little known historical fact - The Japanese attacked the West coast of the US several times, all rather unsuccessfully. Each instance was kept secret from the general public.
